Children's Dentistry

We call our first initial visit with our child patients a “Happy Visit” . This visit is usually with the Doctor for a checkup and cleaning if the child allows it. We do not push the child beyond their comfort level and may only get a small look accomplished at this visit. We strive to make this first visit friendly and anxiety free.  The doctors at Innovation Drive dental are very comfortable with children and most children often surprise their parents with the success of the appointment.  The Dentist may want to take x-rays to show you decay that is happening between the teeth and will also let you know if your child’s teeth are coming in the way they should. Most importantly, it is important to show your child that going to the dentist can prevent problems instead of just fixing them once that have already happened.

***The Ontario Dental Association recommends children have their first dental visit about 6 months after the eruption of their first tooth or by the age of one year. The most common age we see children at our office is 3 years old.  However, if you have concerns about your child’s oral health at a younger age, or would like to introduce your child to the dental office before any problems arise, we would be happy to see them and if needed we will refer to a Pediatric Dental Specialist on an individualized basis.
