The leaves are starting to fall, the warm summer weather is cooling down with a cool brisk breeze and BAM you’ve come down with a nasty cold. There is a reason for this. The first being more people tend to hang around indoors as opposed to the summer when people spend majority of their free time outside. When more people are spending more time indoors, it is a lot easier to catch and spread viruses. The second reason is that cold and flu viruses thrive in cooler weather. When the temperature drops, this causes more ideal conditions for bacteria and viruses to grow and replicate.
Some easy ways to stay healthy in the fall are:
1) Wash wash wash. It is so important to wash your hands. After using the washroom, after sneezing/coughing and definitely before eating. This can help prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses
2) Cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze. Remember to try to use your sleeve instead of your hand.
3) Stay away from people that are sick and stay home if you are sick. This is an easy solution.
4) Stay hydrated, get lots of rest and eat healthy. Taking care of your body should strengthen your immune system.
Here at Innovation Drive Dental in Woodbridge we practice the highest standard of infection control. By doing so, we limit your risk of catching those nasty bugs.
