What to Expect on Your First Visit
So you’ve chosen to visit a dentist. Whether you’re coming in because you’ve decided to switch dentists, you have not seen a dentist in a while, or you have a dental emergency, we’re happy you chose our office! When you come in for your first visit we generally perform a new patient exam. These appointments are an hour long and they allow you and the dentist to get to know each other, it also lets the dentist get to know your mouth.
At all first appointments we take a complete set of x-rays. Our office uses digital radiographs with minimal radiation exposure. We use these x-rays to find cavities between your teeth, check the health of the bone around your teeth, and see any other dental conditions that we would not be able to find through just an intraoral exam only. Once we take your x-rays we will personalize your dental chart. We do this by marking down any existing dental treatments and any work that may need to be done.
As part of our new patient experience we offer a complimentary VELscope examination. This is the newest form of oral cancer detection. We will also take intraoral photos so that you can see you mouth the way the dentist sees it. Once we have assessed your mouth, we will discuss any needed treatment and answer any questions you may have.
